Hi Orlando,

This is a very strong draft in terms of the focus and organization. You are 100% correct in saying that most people would be hard pressed to claim similarities between these two parties, especially now. However, you are starting to make a point with the three aspects of comparison that are in your draft and then directly stated in the conclusion. I wrote you feedback within your draft about where you could develop more examples and be more assertive with the comparison points.

I hope the feedback helps in your revision process and that you have a happy holiday weekend.

The Republican and Democratic Party Similarities

For many years, they have been only two major parties in the United States; the Republican and Democratic Party. It doesn’t mean that they are only two parties in the US; the US has more than six registered political parties. However, it is only republican and Democratic that share most all the political power and have produced majority presidents and other senior political positions in the country since the 1800s. Republican and democratic are traditionally perceived as opposing and ever having contradictory ideologies. Presently, with a former Republican president refusing the election results and seriously pursuing an election petition, the level of bipartisanship in the US is record low. There is bluer clear water on the difference between democrats and republican than what can make them similar. However, starting from the same founders, Madison James and Thomas Jefferson, who formed the parties as Democratic-Republican Party in 1790, republican and democratic parties share a lot in common.

The longer-term goal of the Democratic Party is to achieve a prosperous, United States. Apart from freedom and dignity for all, The Democratic Party has a prosperous United States at the core of its manifesto. The general ideology of the Democratic Party is to achieve prosperity through government interventions that could control and boost the country’s economy where necessary. This phenomenon is vividly seen in congress, where most democrats voted in for the economic packed to buffer families from the harsh effects of COVID-19 and boost small and medium business during the pandemic to avoid a recession. These two scenarios indicate that democrats have a prosperous long time goal for the country.

Democratic Party is in favor of the capitalist economy. Democrats believe in a capitalist economy as a way of achieving a prosperous country. Though a handful of democratic such as the congress representative Alexandria Cortez-Ocasio avows socialism, most democratic believe in capitalist. This party has made rules and policies that support effective capitalism, with the most prominent example being the taxes relieves for small and middle enterprises during the COVID-19 pandemic. These policies aim to make individual control of producing robust and practical, a primary capitalist philosophy. Try to include one or two more examples that show how the Dems support capitalism. The tax relief bill seems more like the government intervention you spoke of in the previous paragraph.

Democrats spend billions on a pollster that canvass the Americans to gauge popular opinion. During the 2020 elections, the Democratic Party employed various pollsters to the popularity of their candidate, Joe Biden. Additionally, the party also encouraged editors and pundits to create articles and news from the party’s views. This paragraph should be a little more developed. Then make sure to conclude it and the first subject altogether. Since you’re organizing in subject by subject you want to provide a little transition to the next subject, the GOP.

The campaign slogan for Donald Trump, a Republican Party 2016 and 2020 candidate, was “make American great again” this simple slogan demonstrates prosperity as the core manifesto of the party. Additionally, as president of the US, Donald trump boosted the American economy by an average of 14.9%. Precisely, he signed a $2 trillion coronavirus Aid, created the relief and economic security acts that help maintain family income and saving during a crisis. This was in the belief that a strong economy is the bedrock of the United States’ prosperity. Try to incorporate more transitional reminders to how this is much like the Democratic party. Also write a concluding statement that stresses how this is a point of similarity between the two parties.

Republican Party is in favor of a capitalist economy. Try to write a topic sentence that reinforces the similarity this point has with the Dems. Republican also believes that capitalism is the only way of achieving a prosperous country. This party has made rules and policies that support effective capitalism. Making rules that would bar or impose heavy levies on imports from China in early 2019, the Republican Party protected the American producers. It demonstrated a strong belief in individual or private control of production in the country. Having individual control of production is a central capitalist philosophy. Can you be a little more specific about how capitalism “looks” in the US?

Republican Party is a perfect example of a party that can spend billions to pollster to canvass popular opinion. During the 2020 elections, the Republican Party, led by President Donald Trump, employed various pollsters to gauge his popularity. Additionally, the party also encouraged editors and pundits to create articles and news from the party’s views. Use some transitional reminders about how similar the Democratic party influenced the elections.

In conclusion, the Democratic Party and the Republican Party have similar if not identical philosophies but only differ in achieving them. Both parties have the prosperity of the United States of America at the core of their manifestos, strongly believe in the capitalist idea and have a similar campaign and election strategies. Though in present political circumstance, one may find it challenging to detect any similarities between the Democratic and the republican. But all facts point to Republican and Democratic Party having similar structure and ideologies
