Company Case Study Project

In this class you will provide global human resources advice to The RIDE (http://www.experiencetheride.com). Richard Humphrey is the CEO and Dan Rogowski is the President. THE RIDE is an emerging global entertainment business. It is growing rapidly and has 20 full time and 150 part time employees. They would like to open an office in Tokyo, Japan. Tokyo is a logical choice for this entertainment business, but they are unsure of the culture and HR practices (compensation, training, employment, benefits). The business activities are completed, but they need an HR department. They will employ about 10 people in the office, 1 expatriate, and 100 part-time entertainers.

The president and the CEO will make a presentation to the class and tell you about the business. You will function as a business consultant and explain to them how to create a formal HR department in the Tokyo company. At the end of the class you will present your recommendations to Mr. Humphrey and Mr. Rogowski.

Your recommendation must include the following components:

· A summary the labor laws that will have to be followed in Japan
