Community Analysis
You are to complete the following 3 task. (3 parts)
please Review Tutorial: Literature Search & APA References
Chosen Topic: cons vs pros of childcare in Westlake village city in California
Part 1: You are being asked to conduct a literature search and find articles to support the Statement of Problem for your Community Analysis Project & Civic Engagement Letter.
· You must upload 2 articles to Canvas
· you must find 1 newspaper article AND 1 peer-reviewed journal article
· Note: Articles can be on your topic OR on your city/community. For example, a team studying Homelessness in Pasadena may find a peer-reviewed journal on homelessness and a newspaper article on living situations in Pasadena, or a newspaper article on homelessness in Los Angeles or a city near Pasadena. You might not find a newspaper article on homelessness in Pasadena, and that’s okay!
Essentially, your articles should provide methods or techniques to help reduce the problem within your community. They should support your own strategy or plan for reducing the problem.
Your articles should support different solutions for the topic you chose.
· Example – Topic: Homelessness
· According to The Semuels (2016), having homeless individuals participate in support services, such as a wraparound program, helps reduce the number of those living on the street. Having someone to keep them accountable boosts chances of landing a job, staying sober, and/or finding permanent housing.
· My best practice in the example above is the implementation of support services. This has been proven to work in the past. I am citing an article that has conducted research on the topic. Based on this information, I would then ask (in my letter) for my city official to allocate more funds to support services.

Submission Format /Criteria for Success
Must upload PDF or consolidated screenshots of full - COMPLETE articles. Consolidate all screenshots onto ONE document before submission. Links will receive zero points. Partial articles will receive zero points. Multiple screenshot uploads will receive zero points. MUST UPLOAD FULL ARTICLES!
Links will not be accepted. You must upload PDFs or screenshots/print screens of the articles. You can download most peer-reviewed journal articles in PDF. What I want screenshots of, are your newspaper articles. Take those screenshots (print screens) and compile them onto a word document. Google how to take a print screen on your computer. There should be no more than 2 uploads. You may also copy/paste the content onto a word document, and upload that.
Part 2 (TASK after finding articles): Your task is to create an APA References page using the articles you found for the Community Analysis Project and Civic Engagement Letter.
Your References page should include:
-1 peer-reviewed journal article
-1 newspaper article
Criteria for Success
Each reference should be properly structured in APA format. Points will be deducted for improper formatting.
Part 3 Create a survey, or obtain an existing survey, on the attitudes of community members regarding your chosen topic. Create a survey using Qualtrics, Google Forms, SurveyPlanet.com, Word doc, etc. The purpose of administering a survey to local residents (in your chosen community) is to learn more about their concerns/opinions regarding your chosen topic. The information you gather from the survey will help strengthen the letter you will write to your government representative. You will (hopefully) be able to affirm that others in that community also share the same or similar concerns regarding your risk factor. You must include a consent form where participants can provide electronic consent prior to taking the survey.
If you choose to create your own survey:
