Instrument Research

Research instrument is basically the operationalization of your key concepts. It refers to the actual tool you use to collect your data. If you are conducting survey research, your research instrument will be a questionnaire. If you do an interview, your instrument will be your interview questions. If you do an experiment, your instrument will be your stimulus, description of your manipulation and questions. If you do a content analysis, your instrument will be your codebook.

This assignment consists of two parts: a cover page and an actual instrument

Cover Page

· Your research question or hypothesis

· Your key variables

· Your proposed sampling method, i.e., how many people/units to be included in your sample and how you are about to get them.

Research Instrument

· A brief introduction of your survey to your respondents (if you are doing a survey)

· Actual questionnaire or codebook

Note:

· There is no limit to how many questions you can include your survey or codebook. The key evaluation criterion is the match between your key variables in your RQ and your questions, i.e., the conceptual fit. It means your questionnaire contains questions that can answer your RQ.

· If you have borrowed a scale from a previous study, please reference it at the end.

This assignment accounts for 5% of your final grade.
