Example of a correctly written Lit Review:
Devito, Basilice, Higuera, Morote and Manley (2014) conducted a study to
examine the difference in perceived leadership styles of Generation X and Baby Boomers between transactional and transformational leadership styles. A sample of 87 was taken from a larger study that was conducted by Higuera (2008). A t-test was conducted to determine if there was a difference in preference of leadership style between the two age 19 cohorts. Results indicated that there were no significant differences in transactional leadership (p = .096) or transformational leadership (p = .224).

Key Tips:
1. Each summary should be indented at least 5 spaces (APA Citation Guidelines)
2. Remember the abstract of an empirical article will describe what the study investigated. (You must re-write this is YOUR own words if you quote verbatim you MUST cite).
3. The instrument or method section of the article describes the type of instrument that was used and how the study was conducted. It may also include some demographics in here (I.e. the average of age of participants or number of males and females)
a. This will also tell you the number of surveys that were administered. It will also tell you how many were deemed usable (this is important).
4. The results tell you the outcome of the study Note: This should have some statistics laid out for you.
5. If you can’t find the statistics of the study in the results section because sometimes articles will only include their tables in this section move onto the “Discussion” section
6. Lastly, the conclusion will often tell you what the study found and that is where you’ll find how to conclude your summary
