COMM 103 Demonstrative Speech

Assignment Description

The purpose of this assignment is to familiarize you with the use of props while presenting a speech. For this 3-5 minute presentation, you will choose a topic that requires you to utilize an appropriate prop to demonstrate a skill, technique, or idea to the audience. Examples of acceptable topics include: how to bake a cake, how to juggle, how to change a tire, etc.

To help you demonstrate the topic of your speech you will need to choose an appropriate prop. Examples of acceptable props include: tools, cooking utensils and ingredients, sports equipment, art supplies, or any other physical object related to the topic of your speech. No weapons or inappropriate props will be allowed for this speech. Ask your professor if you are unsure.

You will be expected to conduct research on the topic of this presentation. In order to accomplish this you will be required to have three relevant references that you will cite in your outline as well as during your speech. You will organize your outline using the same APA Outline Template used for the Speech of Introduction. You will also conduct a peer evaluation for this speech using the same form used for the Speech of Introduction peer evaluation.

You will again be assigned a presentation day by your professor. Regardless of when you speak you will be required to bring the Demonstrative Speech SPEECH Evaluation Form the day you present your speech with your name on it. You must also present on your assigned speech day. See the syllabus for course policies on late work and absences.
