press release
COM 227 Module Six Activity Guidelines and Rubric
Overview: This activity provides you with the opportunity to apply your learning to a task you may complete in your future career. Whether you are an intern or an executive, providing high-quality feedback in written form is essential for professional success. For a public relations (PR) professional, writing and perfecting press releases is a common task in the field. Each person plays a valuable role ensuring high-quality press releases are distributed, no matter their title. Junior team members are often asked to review a press release, as they are not always as close to the writing and have the ability to see errors where others may not be able to notice them.
Prompt: Consider the following scenario: As the public relations (PR) intern at a large public relations agency, team members often ask for you to review client press releases as a fresh set of eyes. Using Associated Press (AP) Stylebook Chapters A, C, N, T, and the chapter on punctuation, track your changes and locate and correct the 20 AP style errors in the provided press release. Submit the corrected press release with tracked changes. For instructions on how to track changes, review the Microsoft Office Support website.
When you are revising this document, pay special attention to the dates, numbers, punctuation, and titles. The format of the document is correct and does not need to be changed.
Rubric
Guidelines for Submission: Your assignment submission should be the original press release document with your corrections indicated using Microsoft Word’s track changes tool. To track changes in Microsoft Word, use the Track Changes button in the Review tab, which will display the changes made to the document.
