Communicating effectively requires the ability to tell the difference between fact and opinion. If you identify your opinions when communicating, it sends a clearer message. When opinions are stated as facts, misunderstandings can occur. This assignment measures your ability to differentiate between fact and opinion. It also provides an opportunity for you to explain how distinguishing fact from fiction aids in communicating effectively.

Perform the following tasks:

· Research the definition of fact and opinion.

· Research 20 statements on the worksheet to determine either an “F” or an “O”, in the blank in front of each statement, using the following guidelines:

· Describe, in 2 or 3 well-developed sentences, how being able to distinguish fact from opinion helps you to communicate more effectively.
