Compare and contrast European colonialism in North America and South Africa.

European colonialism in North America and South Africa was depicted to be similar in that the colonialists wanted natural resources from these nations. They wanted to exploit the most profitable natural resources in each of their colonies. However, colonialism in Africa was found to be more like a method in the trading system since the colonialists did not only got the natural resources by they also got the free labors. For North America, the colonialists only wanted the natural resources for their various uses.

Why did colonization occur in both places?

Colonization occurred in both places for various reasons. It is worth noting that in South Africa, colonization happened since the colonizes saw that the South African lands had profitable natural resources, there was a need to explore and mine such minerals. This was carried out through colonization. This was the same case with North America. The colonizers also wanted free laborers, and this took the Africans as slaves.

3. Historical implications of colonialism on issues of race, culture, and class in South Africa

According to Trevor Noah, the various historical implications of colonialism is that it led to the development of new religious identities as well as the interaction between the political and the cultural practices. In addition, colonialism led to the rise of the urban centers as well as new urban identities which further led to the emergence of the peasant economies. It also led to the mineral discoveries and British imperialism.

Ways European colonialism impacts language, racial hierarchy, identity, economics, and land ownership.

European colonialism had various impacts. It led to the development of common language such as English due to increase interactions with various individuals from different backgrounds. However, colonialism as well led to racial segregation where members of one race were found in one place and other in another place. This led to discriminations. Additionally, it led to economic development since the exploration of natural resources led to economic growth.

Haunting effects of colonialism, even after colonization has long ended in North America and South Africa

The haunting effects of colonialism entail cause of slavery which is still being felt to date. This is based on the facts of discrimination of the people of different races which are usually the African Americans living in the United States. This is because they are perceived as the slaves and do not qualify to have human rights and thus treated as objects.

Additionally, colonization led to an improvement in the economy as it led to the development of infrastructure. This is because, with the exploration of the natural resources and the transportation of slaves, the development of roads and communication system came into being.
