Definition
A collection of words that express an emotion or ideal
Poems are literary attempts to share personal experiences and feelings
Good poems show images which leave the readers the sense of delight, awe, and wonder.
Dedication
I dedicate this collection to my sister in Nigeria who I met in July 20, 2014 while I had travelled to Ibadan for a special vocation. Her name is Margaret. I write this to express my deeper feelings for her since no other woman in the world makes me feel the way I feel. She is the reason why the sun rises and sets in my soul. I would like to honor Margaret for her dedication and been a good blood sister. She has shown full support and the genuine love she has for me. Margaret chose to rise above all societal prejudices to settle with me in the United States of America. This is very special to me and to my nuclear family here.
Tales of a Maiden is a collection written by Steve Kisorio between 2001-2020

Five Unified Poems
Return of My Ship (2015) I stand at the sea shore, My heart has wept for long, I am adequately burdened, My soul weeps for every other day I ever lived, For every jewel I ever believed in, For every poem I ever crafted, For every smile of fortune in my soul, I loved you with every bit of myself, My lady, the clouds of mercy welcomes me home, The sea waves roar with impatience,
Return of My Ship (2015) (continues)
The coconut leaves are waving at me to bid me fair well, My ship is at bay, Many promises I made, Many souls await for my return, What more shall I do but leave? Shall I not but cry and walk away? Shall I not but hold mine tears
My lady, remember how I cared for you, Didn’t we live in each other's soul? Didn’t we swim in each other's pool? Didn’t we drink from each other's cup?
Return of My Ship (2015) (continues)
Didn’t we serenade each other's night? Didn’t the host of heavens watch in joy? Didn’t we belong to each other's world? My lady, my ship is in a haste, The sea is at peace no more, The waves are freaking, The marines are waiting for me aboard, The ocean beacons me, To my native land, But should the ends of the oceans,
Bring forth vibrations of love unto my heart, I shall come back for you my lady
A Gaze at the Sea (2016)
Is it pleasure you find in puncturing my heart?
I have duly withdrawn myself from my tether
For you I trade my stewardship
If it be chasing the wind so be it
For yours has a scent that wafts far beyond
In the sands of time I trace thy steps Till I find thee at the shore
Why do you leave? Did my feather grow cold for loyalty? Why so soon emissary of the heavens?
Is he so cruel to create such a fallacy for me?
A Gaze at the Sea (2016)(continues)
Won't your goodwill last for eternity?
Shall you cast me back at the mercy of the bitter water?
While in bread and butter you've communed?
Is it not the same ship that blows up in the mid seas This voyage shall have no anchor The waters are troubled for you
You that taught me that souls graze in green fields
How then shall I bear the pain
Did ever my speech create battle in your ears?
I search deep within for answers yet I find none
A Gaze at the Sea (2016)(continues)
Now all alone I sit at the shores, Listen to lone cowries
As I watch you disappear in time
Your crewmen cast me out
For they cast spoils on and find me at fault
And the last swash sent a message from you
Your return is due, may it be soon
The fields await our communion
The stars are growing weary by night
Of watching my tears
The moon is waning for hope is frail
A Gaze at the Sea (2016)(continues)
But love is eternal Emissary of heavens
Seas are not for angels like you
Disembark and fly back home
A Rose for Jaqueline (2016)
For the Art of memory that I have searched
I have travelled to the very depths of human heart,
My eyes have toured the most beautiful landscapes
The contours drawing elegance of an oceanic breeze,
I have sojourned the stretch of the Milky Way
The zodiac melodies resonating millions of light years away,
I have visited the moons, seen eclipses and taken clips
From my telescopic pupils have I streamed live
I have travelled amongst lines of my writings
I have flown amongst pinions of my stanzas
And in the lyrical utterances of my sonnets
I have never seen such a woman like you
A Rose for Jaqueline (2016)(continues)
I have power to write the most ungraspable things
In search of an emerald whose texture serenades my heart
And it is in the heart of my Cherry that I found pure Love
It is in the semblance of my child’s eyelashes that found myself
And in the breadth of her nostrils do I smell creeds of life
And in the glossiness of her angelic lips I kiss passionately
In the reflection of her cornea, have I seen the image of myself,
And in the aqueous liquid of her plasma do I flow north
And forever shall I trade my life to see her happy
Because she is my earth and my moon
Beneath the Waterfall (2015)
Go…go…go…go…river
Move like a troop along the mystic terrain
Let of your waters meander through the shifting stands of time
Let of your waters serenade the rose beneath the waterfall
So that as she feels the eruption of the breeze
Her elegance may stretch to the ends of eternity
Let the royal jewelry amongst her heart spread
To the edges of the horizon where the sky kiss the earth
Falling deeper than the depth of the heavens
Beneath the Waterfall (2015)(continues)
So Little River…go…go…go…go…
Let of your waters embrace the floral orchestra in the forest
Let of your majestic droplets blow our lips with a million kisses
Let the curling moisture massage our faces with love
Let the waterfall proclaim the glory of Almighty God
May the roar bless the generations born of this vast land;
This mountainous terrain full of fruits and honey
May the depth of the waterfall pour waters of relief
So that as we feel the sweetness of the breeze
Blowing up our clothes like kites and embracing
Every element of human spirit in us
Beneath the Waterfall (2015)(continues)
May the glory and might of the rose beneath the waterfall
Be rumored across the river valley
And as the waters settle with the serenity amongst our hearts
And as the particles meet in the undiscerned mist
Colliding back and forth, Let our souls wait at the water fall
Let our souls resonate in rigorous recitations
And may the peace of Almighty Father
Keep the waterfalls draining into the depth of our hearts
As the tears funnel into the pitfalls of the space
And let the water droplets continue to collide in ecstasy
Till we meet again beneath the waterfall
During the next water collision
Tales of Verona (2020)
I heard the empty whispers of your youthful voice
Strangled in the loneliest of all dungeons in Verona
I heard the outcry with lacks and deficiencies whose crevices
Built dynasties amongst pillars of my heart
I saw the soothing fireflies orbit your sorrowful heart
And I melted in the midst of your feminine stare
And in the chronicles of my loneliness
Did I gaze with rhythmical palpitation…
I strode towards your elegance with a heart full of bliss
Woman, the way your waist swung in ecstasy
And your hair blown by the Northern winds across Verona
Wafted aroma with Devine romance from the Gates of the Heavens
I tasted beauty of your Million Pound worth of gold ounces
In the cascades of the teardrops falling from your eyes
Tales of Verona (2020)(continues)
I wrapped up the delicacies digging deeper than the depth of your heart
And in every smile of fortune, rested my army of serene teardrops
As you dressed up your majesty, the texture of your melanin emitted
Temperatures no human race could ever contain
So I melted away…and knelt with my ears dropped like Cedar of Lebanon
Since, there is no one in Verona who grips my heart than you
The entire host of the stars grow wary, where are you little bird?
Where is the bread and the blood we should commune?
You are the rubies of the shores of Venice
You are the mangroves of the coastline of Ravena
You are the beauty and the beast
The endless river that waters my souls with Life
And in You, I will tell of the tales of Verona
