Collaborative Course Research Project

Week 5: Expanded Research Proposal (Due 11:59 pm ET Sunday, Week 5)

Directions:

Submit a written Expanded Research Proposal containing the following:

1. Title page and Table of Contents.

Adhere to APA formatting guidelines. Click here for a sample APA paper.

2. Documentation of at least four initial scholarly sources from the library.

Scholarly sources must come from the online library. They are typically peer-reviewed

journal articles. Peer reviewed means the articles have been reviewed by scholars and

editors for content. You may use other sources such as websites but at least eight sources

must be scholarly sources for the final product in week 8. For this week, be sure to

provide at least four scholarly sources that you may want to use.

3. Expanded introduction to the organization.

4. Expanded description of the chosen problem.

Develop a well-formed problem statement that is focused and structured. The reader

should clearly understand your study and research. Include your research question(s) in

this area.

5. Preliminary solution options (can be bullet points).

For the final paper, you will need to provide at least three potential workable solutions.

Brainstorm some preliminary solutions now and you can always narrow them down in the

final paper to the best ones. Solutions should be specific and actionable and explain why

and how they will work.

6. Preliminary analysis of leadership and organizational behavior concepts addressed in the

paper.

Identify and describe the root causes of the problem. The analysis needs to get to the

bottom of the problem and not just describe symptoms. Look for causes so that you can

provide workable solutions.

Additional Directions:

➢ APA format is required.

➢ Avoid using too much quoted material. No

more than 10% of any paper should be quotes. Not only do you need to cite direct quotes but

you also need to cite paraphrased (information in your own words but learned from another

source) information.

➢ A minimum of 8 scholarly (peer-reviewed journal articles) are required. You can use more. You

can also use other sources like websites but must have at least 8 scholarly sources. Visit the

online library to search for reputable sources.

➢ The final paper should come in between 10-15 pages but not more than 20 pages (not including

title pages, reference pages, appendices, table of contents, etc.).

➢ Plan ahead! The final paper is due by the last day of class. Keep in mind that late work is not

accepted after the class ends. There is a firm and final deadline of Saturday, December 19, 2020,

11:59 pm ET. I would encourage you to plan to submit your final paper a little bit early just in

case something unexpected happens. If for any reason, there is a problem submitting the paper

to Canvas, email it to me before the deadline.

➢ Your final paper will go through Turnitin. The results will be returned to you in a few minutes

after submission. Any orange or red percentages are too high and may indicate that your

content was not properly paraphrased from the sources. Be sure to check your results in case

revisions need to be made prior to the final deadline.
