CMAPP Analysis Letter

Question 1# What prompted me to write the letter

The context of the initial mail was one of the reasons why I had to write a new one. If I were to deliver it, chances are that the audience (Kim) would develop a negative response because it was more of a threat. In addition, the mail had a mix up of ideas. It could not portray what I wanted to pass across. Further, the narrative of how I came to do business with Kim was not worth communicating. The language I used in the initial mail was also part of the reason I had to write a new mail as it was vulgar and abusive. From our initial conversation, I feel that I had known the character of Mr. Webley. Despite the fact that his associates did a shady job, addressing Webley in a rude manner doesn’t seem right. It therefore made me identify and refine my purpose. The initial email was more of a mail sent to a baddy we were no longer in good terms. Generally, the audience intended to read the mail wouldn’t acknowledge the tone and mood portrayed in the initial email and therefore I had to write a new one.

Question #2 How I would describe my relationship with the audience

Since I had not interacted with Kim but only his accomplice, I would describe our relationship to be uncertain. Further, my relationship with Webley was business related and therefore should have been characterized with professionalism. Likewise, the secondary audience was my lawyer, the mail should have had some aspect of formality. The fact that Kim’s call was answered by somebody else means that the email was likely to be read by the same individual. The anonymous third party therefore qualifies to be an audience. From our past experience, I would describe my relationship with him to be hostile because he was rude on the phone.

Question # 3 What I would do if my letter fails to meet its intended objective

If the letter fails to meet its objective, it therefore means that the context, message, audience, purpose and product do not correlate as it is supposed to. I will go back to the drawing board and find out more about the audience since it helps in establishing the context which further determines the audience. I will also revise the concept of writing an email since it has a direct effect on the message.

Question 4# My Main Points

The package that I received did not match the description I was anticipating. All the PB-2 packages attached, i.e. the WebEasy Pro, Office and the printer were unfunctional and should either be replaced with functioning products or a refund. The customer service at Acme was constantly unreachable and unfriendly. And finally, Mr. Webley should address the issue of late delivery of items.

Question 5# My Secondary Points

I was generally unsatisfied with services offered by Acme since I paid for a package and yet gained nothing out of it. Further, I wasted time waiting for the product and reaching Acme to fix the unfunctional product and therefore I deserve a compensation. Employees at Acme should be friendly with their customers and acquaint themselves with the necessary knowledge of an item before presenting it to their clients.
