How this class works week-to-week Quizzes and activities will open on Friday morning and will be due the following week on Monday and Tuesday respectively. This provides plenty of time to complete the assignments for any schedule. Exams will open on Wednesday morning at 12:01 a.m. and close Thursday at 11:59 p.m. This 48-hour window is the only time the exams will be available so please ensure ASAP that this poses no problems to your schedule. Doing so is your responsibility and failure to plan accordingly may result in a missed exam grade and the need to take an otherwise optional comprehensive final. Exams AMENDMENT..... I will be adding additional essay questions (2-3) to each of the 4 exams. I am confident you know this material and should be able to easily apply the definitions and strategies to these essay questions. To reinforce the details of the exams; multiple choice, true/false and 2-3 essay questions. The essays will be worth 50% and the other questions will be worth the remaining 50%. I will grade the essay(s) and allow Canvas to continue to report your results for the multiple choice and True/False.The time to complete the exam will be extended to a 2 hour limit. There will be 4 module exams; first three will cover specific chapters and the 4th will be comprehensive. Each exam contains 50 multiple choice questions—worth 2 points each—created from chapters, activities, and discussions. The exam has a 75-minute limit which allows 90 seconds to answer each question. Preparing to take the exams in advance is the only way to ensure you have adequate time to complete all of the questions. Please take the exams on the prescribed dates stipulated in the syllabus. Study guides are available to help you study for the exams in the “Module Reviews” folder. If you understand the main points of the chapters, articles, and activities, you will be prepared. You may take module exams only once. You may not consult another person when taking the exam, doing so constitutes cheating and will result receiving a zero for the exam. Only extenuating circumstances (determined by your professor) will constitute a change in taking an exam for individual students. If you are travelling for a University-approved excuse, it is YOUR responsibility to notify the instructor in advance and schedule the make-up the exam BEFORE it is due. Make-up exams will be completed in LockDown Browser Quizzes There will be 12 quizzes always worth 25% of your final grade during this course. Each quiz will include 5-8 multiple choice questions that cover general principles from the chapter(s) indicated on the syllabus. The 5 questions for each quiz will be chosen from a pool of questions that I have selected to be representative of the assigned readings. The Canvas quiz tool will give you 2 minutes to answer each question. This is NOT enough time to look up the answers in the book. You will need to make sure that you keep up with assigned readings and complete the reading guide prior to beginning the quiz. If you do not read the chapter and complete the reading guide, you will not have enough time to answer the questions and you will perform poorly on the quizzes. The lowest quiz grade will be dropped; therefore, NO make-up quizzes will be given, not even for technical issues. Assignments There will be several assignments throughout this course and relevant to the chapter topics. These could include short answer worksheets, written discussions, and final advertising strategy proposal. These will be evaluated on your use of the marketing tools and strategies discussed in this course. The grade will also reflect your thoroughness and ability to communicate effectively. They are intended to reinforce chapter concepts in different ways and show you applications of the concepts. Support your thoughts and ideas with what you learned in the readings. About your writing: Even though this is not an English course, the CoB considers communication a core learning objective. As an instructor, this means that my grade for you inherently reflects your ability to communicate as a business professional. In an online class, I judge this based on your written assignments. In other words, even though I do not expect grammatical perfection, please put some effort in to writing your responses such that they are easy-to-read and professional. If your ideas are not communicated clearly and in detail, you will not receive full credit for activities. Extra Credit There might be additional extra credit opportunities involving marketing studies participation. The instructor will keep students informed of all the extra credit opportunities in the course.
