Classroom Guidance Lesson for Middle School Students
Classroom Guidance Lesson
Classroom guidance lessons are extremely important in schools. These lessons provide school counselors with ways to approach various topics and are an excellent way to deliver this information to all students in a particular grade level.
As a school counselor candidate, this guide gives you the opportunity to consider various elements necessary to plan for guidance lessons with students. Based on the following template, please include:
1. Introduction of Topic
2. Target audience (grade and age range; gender)
3. Provide an overview and objectives
4. Activate prior knowledge
5. Gauge learner desire- what students would like to learn about by the end of the presentation.
6. Developmental activities (multiple intelligences)
7. Differentiated instructional strategies
8. Conclusion
9. Assessment
10. Follow-up
This guidance lesson does not need to be delivered to actual students. This assignment just allows understanding of the design and considerations of a guidance lesson.
You may have an opportunity to use a Classroom Guidance lesion as a formal observation in Internship. It will not be your class but may be another class if your site supervisor agrees and there is a need.
