Class mate responses to discussions

I am sorry to hear that you discovered that someone was negatively speaking about you to others instead of addressing these feelings directly to you. I am glad to hear that you researched conflict resolution techniques prior to addressing this occurrence. I noticed that you mentioned that your workplace had a lower score for inclusion in decision making, through looking through this thread I have noticed that this seems to be a common issue among various workplaces. This is a shame, as workers who are included in decision making are 87% more likely to make good decisions and 75% faster at task completion (Korn Ferry, 2023). Not only are these benefits present with staff inclusion, but it is also found that staff members who are consistently included in decision making are 5 times more likely to maintain employment and are more likely to report feeling appreciated, respected, and comfortable within their job position (Stalter et al., 2020). I think that a good way for your organization to begin improving inclusion would be to hold a paid staff meeting that could be online and/or in person to advise staff on new policies/procedures of the unit. By allowing for online interaction instead of only in-person it increases the staff's availability to attend, as many people have varying schedules and do not always wish to physically attend meetings. It would also be beneficial for your organization to create a committee where staff members have the opportunity to interact with nurse managers to directly influence a change or correction in new decisions. By holding staff meetings, staff should have the opportunity to verbalize additional needs that may need to be addressed and offer different perspectives to new policies that may not have been analyzed already. I hope that your organization can work on these shortcomings and also aim for better communication and conflict resolution while they're at it.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experiences in regards to this week’s topic. It's heartening to learn that your workplace has scored relatively high in civility. However, it's crucial to address any areas that may require improvement. To effectively manage these shortcomings, I would suggest considering the following strategies; firstly, promoting open and respectful communication channels within your organization would be beneficial (Ota et al., 2022). You can create a more inclusive and understanding environment by encouraging team members to engage in dialogues and actively listen to different perspectives. This approach allows for conflicts and misunderstandings to be swiftly addressed. Secondly, fostering a culture that values intelligence and leadership among managers can significantly impact positive behaviors and set an exemplary standard for respectful interactions (Kulari et al., 2022). By implementing these approaches, you can further enhance civility within your workplace.
