CLASS RESPONSE 1
Evidence-based practice (EBP) is a problem-solving method for the distribution of health care that combines the best evidence from studies and patient care information with clinician knowledge and patient preferences and values (Gallagher-Ford et al., 2011), while dissemination is defined as “targeted distribution of information and intervention materials to a specific public health or clinical practice audience” (Agency for Healthcare Quality and Research, p. 3, 2012). Whenever EBP is delivered in a caring and understanding organizational culture, the highest quality of care and best patient outcomes can be achieved (Gallagher-Ford et al., 2011). Nursing professionals play a crucial role in disseminating EBP and delivering quality care through evidence-based practice (Sharplin et al., 2019). Nurses must garner knowledge and skills in order to disseminate information. For the spread of EBP to be successful, it needs a team effort from several professional divisions, administrative backing, and stakeholders.
I want to use PowerPoint presentation and Inservice as my two dissemination strategies. The use of a PowerPoint presentation is beneficial because it allows for the use of different media in the presentation, can be exported to many formats for those who wish to have a paper copy, and additionally allows individuals to work together from just about anywhere (Rusu, 2021). The use of an in-service would allow for education to stakeholders as well as the staff of the project implementation. Incorporating a nurse educator is beneficial as she will focus on educating the staff, including the project's goal to ensure that patients receive the best evidence-based quality care (Gallagher-Ford et al., 2011).
Although the positive effect of EBP has been established through many studies, barriers prevent EBP from becoming the standard of care worldwide (Melnyk et al., 2017). Barriers that I may encounter using the strategies of PowerPoint presentations and in-service sessions include lack of attendance and possible technical difficulties. Possible ways to mitigate poor attendance include timing the meeting when most people are available (i.e., right before or right after a shift), setting up in a convenient location, and offering incentives for those that attend (Berman, 2019). To avoid the possible barrier of a technological malfunction, it would be beneficial to have several paper copies of the presentation so that attendees could still follow along.
The two strategies I would be least likely to use would be email or pamphlets. Nonverbal clues are not conveyed in emails as in face-to-face interactions; this can cause emails to be challenging (Vdovin, 2020). Additionally, pamphlets have various drawbacks, including high printing costs and a constrained amount of room for information sharing (London, 2019).

CLASS RESPONSE 2
Main post
Dissemination Strategies
Evidence based practice (EBP) is an essential component of professional nursing (Newhouse, 2007). Bringing change to your nursing environment may be difficult at first. However, using EBP to make changes in the nursing environment results in better patient outcomes (Newhouse, 2007). Being able to show evidence of these changes working can also help encourage resistant workers to make these changes.
Two dissemination strategies I would be most likely to use would be dashboards and run charts. Dashboards are graphic displays that compare performance indicators for the population cared for on the unit (Melnyk, 2018). Dashboards can be an easy way to involve staff in participating in the EBP changes made on the unit. Dashboards may be difficult for everyone to decipher which may cause a barrier to use them. One way to simplify them and make them easy for everyone to understand is color coding (Melnyk, 2018). Having these unit dashboards that everyone can see and understand encourages participation of the staff nurses, because they can see the results of their direct care of patients (Melnyk, 2018). Run charts can also be a great way to share data change over time with staff (Melnyk, 2018). Ensuring that all staff members understand the information presented with the run charts prevents barriers to use. You can also include a goal line to be able to show progress to the end goal of the project (Melnyk, 2018). Score cards are probably the strategy I would be least likely to use. I feel they are less interactive with staff. I feel people like to see the results of their individual impact on process change. We need to ensure the processes we choose allow all stakeholders the opportunity to have input into the process (Gallagher-Ford, 2011). When people feel their views and voice are heard they are more likely to take ownership in the process.
