Claims of facts and their Evidence

CHRISTOPHER SMITH

Johnson makes a claim of fact that establishes the foundation for his belief that the American dream has more impact than the Constitution of the US.

A. The claim is “While the United States Constitution establishes the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, it is the American Dream that motivates the personality and the promise of the people” (Johnson 4).

B. This claim is a claim of fact that is supported by two pieces of evidence.

1. Exhibit one is” newly arrived immigrants were asked why they came to the United States –their answer was the opportunity to make a living and advance materialistically” (Johnson 8).

a. This evidence meets the standard for being reasonably recent because actually, the number of immigrants coming into the United States is increasing each year. Thousands of people also want to come into the country through their application via the Green lottery. The government of the United States through the recently elected POTUS Trump is now bringing up some rules and regulation to curb the influx of immigrants. All these individuals apply for visas to visit the state so that they can realize their dreams-dreams of a better living through the advanced amenities that have been built over time by the American citizens.

b. This evidence meets the standard for being reliable because it actually has statistics to back it. The United States is one of the nations in the world that is receiving very many immigrants. In fact, during the last election period, the immigrant rule was a hot topic of discussion. Mr Trump had a very hot reservation for immigrants in that he promised to bring in laws that would curb the influx of undocumented immigrants.

c. The evidence meets the standard for being relevant because the immigration topic is actually one of the hot topics in the country now. Laws are being made to make sure that only documented immigrants are allowed to the country. Everyone sees this country has one with a lot of opportunities hence all they hope for is to become part of the country and eat from the national cake.

d. This evidence meets the requirement of being accurate because most of the immigrants who have the opportunity of getting into this country actually realize their dreams in the country. Their lives changes in a big way in that in a short while they are able to own their own homes, get good paying jobs and have their dream living. This means that the notion that these immigrants have when coming into the country actually comes true since the country is full potential.

2. Exhibit 2 is a quote by Eleanor Roosevelt, former first lady of the United States, who said, “In America, we see opportunity and we run to it like a bee to honey because we believe this nation is a place where we can succeed if we simply apply ourselves” (qtd. In Johnson 11)

a. This evidence meets the standard for being reasonably recent because the United States still stands out as a country of innovation especially in the fields of Information Technology. Since innovation comes from men and women seeing opportunities and turning them into ideas, this means that the American population is very aggressive and every opportunity that comes into their way is quickly harnessed into great6 business ideas.

b. This evidence meets the standard for being reliable because one can actually visit the United States, create an opportunity and the number of people who are there bounce on the opportunity is overwhelming in number.

c. The evidence meets the standard for being relevant because the united states stand out as a developed country meaning that any opportunity that presents itself in this country is quickly turned into a business idea hence the economy of the United States keeps growing annually. Despite times when the economy undergoes depression, its citizens still look for the solution and manage to salvage the economy to the status of a developed country.

d. This evidence meets the requirement for being accurate because statistics actually show that the United States record the highest level of business startups globally. The rise of startups simply means that any potential opportunity is taken into its next level of becoming a business idea. The Americans, therefore, see every opportunity and use it to come up with business ideas that bring more benefit to the citizens.
