Title of the research paper: The Role of Technology in Criminal investigation
Thesis statement
Background/ brief literature review of the topic
Technology is putting knowledge into practical use aimed at solving problems. Today, we use technology in every aspect of life. Technology continues to become more advanced and more sophisticated, making some initially arduous tasks to be done more efficiently and effortlessly. Like today, technology is being used to commit sophisticated crimes; law enforcement officers are also using tech tools in combating crimes. The criminal justice system aims at using cutting-edge software, tracking systems, and many other tools during the investigations to keep the public safe and protect human life (Hollywood, et al., 2017). In this paper, therefore, I will look at how technology has made it easier and faster, carrying out criminal investigations. The report will also analyze how criminals are using the same technology in advancing their illegal activities to commit sophisticated crimes.
The recent technological advances have significantly impacted the criminal investigation process of the justice system; consider changing how criminal investigators go after the wrongdoers. This has helped strengthen the evidence to be presented in the court of law. Data collection in criminal justice is essential as it allows the legal experts in many ways. For instance, “DNA and fingerprints can be stored in databases, and they will be used in identifying suspects almost instantaneously” (Klingelberger, 2016). Therefore, technology has led to rapid identification systems, thus allowing law enforcers to quickly see the criminal history of individuals by just conducting a basic search. Today, very few criminals will get off free because technology has made it easier to get credible and reliable evidence.
