Overview: Assessment is an integral part of maximizing an organization’s performance. The assessment portion of a strategicplan determines whether or not the goals of the criminal justice department are being met. Assessment affects decisions about policies, standard operating procedures, training curriculum, and, budget.

Prompt: Submit a draft of the first three elements of the Assessment Plan section (Section III) of your final project. Keep in mind the importance of unbiased data collection while considering your assessment plan. Be sure to address all of the critical elements as outlined below.

For example, the systems model will allowyou to examine the specific inputs such as resources, policies, and pro cedures that determine how far the organization is achieving its mission.

C. Outline the sources of data and information you will use to assess the organization's performance, justifying your selection of sources. For example, you might use crime report statistics to identify areas of high crime rates, or you might interview specific individuals to assess the effectiveness of policies and procedures within the organization.
