Critique of Research

The critique of research will be a 4-5-page paper in APA format with a title page and reference page. The title and reference page do not count towards page total.

Format for All Written Assignments

I. All written work must be typed.

a. Use only Aerial or New Times Roman

b. Double Spaced

c. Black Ink only

d. White Paper only

II. All written work must have the following information

a. Student’s Name

b. Title of the Assignment

c. Page Numbers in Upper Right Corner

d. Class Information (Name and Semester)

III. Submitted as a Word document on Blackboard.

IV. Students will use the in-text citation method for citing in the body of the paper.

V. The student will use the APA reference format for papers.

Assignments not in compliance will not be accepted.

Select a topic from Crimesolutions.gov website (e.g. Corrections and reentry, courts, crime and crime prevention.) Select a subcategory. Select one program from your topic that had no effect (RED) and one program which was effective (GREEN). Download the 2 pages and the original articles of the studies.

For Each Study Answer the Following Questions:

· What type of program was it?

· Who was the target population?

· Identify hypotheses

· Identify the dependent and independent variables

· Identify the methodology used to collect data

· Discuss the limitations of the studies

· What are the strengths and weaknesses of the program?

· What barriers were there to implementing the program?

· Which variables impacted the effectiveness of the intervention/program?

In comparing the two programs:

· What is the effectiveness of RED Compared to the GREEN programs?

· For the RED study, what would you do different?

· For the GREEN study what would you do differently?

· Why did one program fail (RED) and why did one program succeed (GREEN)?
