CJ 331 Podcast Guidelines and Rubric

For this assignment, you will create a podcast that will address the scenario below. It serves to enforce community policing practices and become a training tool for your officers.

Scenario You are a police sergeant and just received a supervisor request for an officer who was, in the opinion of the citizen, discourteous and did not provide her with proper law enforcement service. There is video of the incident and the officer was, in your opinion, rude and, as the citizen stated, did not provide her with assistance.

Record a five- to seven-minute training response as a podcast to the citizen about how you will address the issue and provide a response to the officer to correct behavior.

Your training response in the podcast should include:

 The steps you will take to resolve the situation  A description of how you will interact with the citizen  The options for resolution that you will offer the citizen  The option for resolution the citizen selected (you choose the resolution for the purposes of training)  A description of how you will counsel the officer about his or her rude behavior and lack of assistance  How you would present the resolution to the officer and his or her role in the resolution

Podcast requirements:

 Intro and outro music (police themes only; visit this website for ideas)  Narrative that responds to the six prompts listed above (placed between intro and outro music)  Five to seven minutes in length (including music)  Submitted in MP3 format

Transcript of P odcast You must provide a verbatim transcript of your podcast as a separate document. Please be sure to use Arial font for this assignment (as transcripts should be written using a Sans Serif font).

Report on the Assignment Your report on this assignment must include these components:

 A brief summary of the project, music chosen, and the importance of using technology in policing  A summary of your thoughts on the assignment and the challenges you encountered
