It has been determined that when adults have extremely short supply of sleep, everyday functions are affected. Concentration is hindered and memory is difficult. Tests have been conducted and determined that those driving when sleep deprived reacted in much the same way as drunk drivers. Weight gain has been attributed to lack of sleep as well as depression. In an already stressful situation, lack of sleep can greatly impact a student’s college career (American Psychological Association, retrieved 8/02/2016).
