assessment 3rd grade
Some things you need to always keep in mind while creating your test items:
1. What grade level is the assessment instrument created for? Is the reading level appropriate for the grade level chosen. Even if it's a science or math test, if there is any reading at all, you need to make sure the assessment is written at an appropriate reading level.
2. What type of items do I want to use? Multiple choice, true-false, fill in the blank, essay questions, etc. Each type of question has pros and cons.
3. Are the items I'm creating truly assessing the standard/objective that I chose?
4. Do I have at least five items assessing each standard/objective?
5. Are my items grouped according to kind? (mc with mc, t/f with t/f, etc.
6. Do I have written instructions for each section of my assessment?
7. Is there a place for the child to record his specific identifier? (Like name, or student number?)
8. Do I need a place to record the date administered and the score?
The assessment must have at least 10 questions. You may choose the best type of questions to be used based on the content being assessed.
Here is a summary of the assignment criteria:
· Part 1: Insert your teacher interview document. This way I can see who the test was created for (without having to go back and look it up) and any accommodations which have to be made for administration of the assessment.
· Part 2: A minimum of 10 original assessment items in teacher key format. This means on a copy of the assessment align each item with the objective it's measuring, provide the answer as well, provide how many points each items is worth and or any additional grading/scoring criteria.
· Part 3: A clean "student copy" of the assessment.
I will upload the teacher interview so you can see it's for 3rd grade and it includes the competency and objectives, which you will use to create the assessment. The assessment is for a struggling reader so it must be geared towards that and you have to create a clean "student copy" assessment for the child including all the information that's asked at the beginning of the assignment.
