Cinematic Techniques

The movie of “Snow White and the Seven Dwarf were originally created to scare

children so they can behave properly resulting with a moral value in the ending of each story.

Snow White is a lonely princess staying with her stepmother, a vain Queen. The Queen is

worrying for Snow White that she might look better than she, therefore, she forces Snow White

to work as a scullery maid and asks her Magic Mirror daily “who is the fairest one of all.” For

many years, the mirror always answers that the Queen is, pleasing her. Thus, understanding this

shot plot summary introduces the film with a start of one of the major themes that can be

identified in the film snow-white and the seven dwarfs is that of jealousy. The major evidence

which can be used to explain the theme is the situation which occurs between the queen and the

princess (Batchelder, 2016). The queen is jealous of the princess success and also rise in the

hierarchy. She becomes afraid of her beauty that she even goes ahead to tell her men to kill the

princess. After noting that she was not killed the queen poison the princess to a spell. It is a

perfect example of jealous at its best.

The film is centered more on Snow White since she is the main character. At the

beginning of the movie, she is seen singing while doing her daily activities, singing while being

found by birds and animals, singing when intruding the dwarfs home, as well as singing when

being accompanied by the dwarfs as she agrees to clean and cook in their home. Looking at the

techniques, one that can be illustrated and seen in this scene is her costume/ hair. The princess

has a package, in this case, the hair beauty and her charm make the queen realize that she is too

beautiful to be let take anything. The princess dressing also put an extra pain to the queen, and

she realizes that she needs to be stopped (Batchelder, 2016). Second is the acting style the queen

acts as the evil person while the princess act as the right person with these the theme is illustrated

at the end. The third is the cinematography with the specific scene where the queen become

ultimate jealous of the princess that she orders the princess to be killed to prevent instances of

her the becoming the queen at the end.

Some of the noticeable elements that can be seen in the film snow-white include the

narrative element which is the basis of the story which is given in the process. Second, the

narrative supports the cinematography or the motion pictures which are used in the process of

making the film. When looking at the sound that is used, it goes hand in hand with the narrative

element and the cinematography component that is used in the case (Brothers, 2013). Editing has

been done to ensure that the three aspects are working together to make the movie a complete

package by the end. A well-organized coordination can be seen in the process. The coordination

of this element is what makes the film to be complete by the end.

The storyboarding used and also the cinematography which is used in the case showcases

them in the following ways. One thing is that the story is built in a style that depicts the jealous

situation that occurs between the queen and the princess. Second is the setting of cinema one

where animation is used to explain the situation (Brothers, 2013). The lighting which is used in

the case; meaning when the moment requires dull lighting, the film is developed in that case. The

sound which is used in the case is also well developed to show the situation. When the princess is

suffering the sound is sobering. “The way characters are dressed, their physical appearance as

well as the way they carry themselves, and the things they use and the spaces they inhabit all tell

us something about their personalities and function in the story before the actors even say or do

anything” (Batchelder, 2016). Brothers (2013) states that, it consists of “setting, costume, and

makeup, lighting, and staging.

I believe the elements of the wizard of Oz powerfully fill a void that does not exist

among many children. In my opinion, I believe the elements do appear to work together in a

harmonious way as well as it is all about taking things for granted. One method that can be used

in the case which can make the film snow-white and seven dwarfs are the occlusions. In this

case, the idea is to implement the same thing that occurs in the natural world (Brothers, 2013).

The idea is to give the movie more dynamics and element of becoming more appealing at the end

of the day. It can be used in the production of a shot in the pre-production process. It would have

made the movie to have a better dimension at the end.
