9.Besides constitutional spending, how does this affect Department of Homeland

10. What is Arizona v. United States (2017) important, especially as to Attorney
General Session’s claims that the relevant state statutes are “preempted” by
federalism? What else does Arizona v. United States include?
11. What does the author think is the best solution for a deeply divided nation?
What finally happened: In July 2018, Federal District Judge Mendez ruled against the
Trump Administration for an injunction blocking enforcement of SB 54 and Assembly
Bill 103. However, Judge Mendez did issue an injunction against the main provision of
Assembly Bill 450 (targets employers who assist the federal government in immigration
enforcement and the state cannot interfere with that). Similar cases are in different
Circuit Courts and most likely, we will see some of these cases go to the Supreme Court.
Some states are not having a problem with the requests from Immigration and Customs
Enforcement (ICE) and are cooperating with the federal government.
Short essay: Federal laws regarding current immigration policy vs. open borders and
the extent and limits of federalism and different states will be important issues during
the elections. Name three arguments for “open” immigration and three arguments against
an open borders policy. After each argument, give a brief explanation. Some
arguments, such as safety lends itself to statistics (80% unaccompanied minors without
parents versus 20% separation of parent and child at the border when felony involved)
while other arguments might not be able to be corroborated by stats (rule of law
important to follow/compassionate nation). Both types of argument are still important to
individuals. Arguments should be separate and distinct, in other words, please
do not state the same argument. (1-2 paragraphs, 6 points)
