Dissertation Topic 1: A systemic review of tools and techniques to analyze and manage change I associate change management very closely with the work of consultants as often times, organizations looking to implement broad change have no experience in doing so. Research into this topic would provide opportunities to assess the tools and techniques available for assisting organizations through such a major process.  In a previous organization, leadership decided to undergo a complete reorganization, but did not seek professional assistance in doing so. While the reorganization did take place, the process was not efficient and the organization lost valuable team members in the process.  Additionally, there were periods during the process when the organization provided decreased support to stakeholders due to its lack internal communication. 

Dissertation Topic 2: An evaluation of resistance to organizational change and its effects on employee productivity   Somewhat similar to the suggested topic above, this dissertation topic would focus more on how employees’ resistance to change can affect a company or organization’s overall efficiency and productivity. This topic would dive into the common reasons for employee resistance to change across identified industries and look into strategies implemented to combat the resistance. Obstacles to this topic could include gaining access to employees within an organization undergoing change, identifying those who are resistant, and gaining truthful input for proper analysis.

Dissertation Topic 3: The relationship of successful organizational change management to leadership style This topic would focus on specific leadership styles and how those particular styles affect successful change management within an organization. It is clear that a good leader realizes that things will change and that change is inevitable for a company or organization’s growth. Effective change management is controlled by the success of its leader. A leader must consider options and alternatives that will benefit the organization and its employees. Challenges to the research would perhaps be determining the leadership styles of organizations that have undergone major changes, understanding what successful change management means to each of the organization, and having access to the right leaders and employees within each organization who will provide truthful feedback.
