The use of human subjects as medical research experiments brings forth a controversial subject within a society with strong ethics. The world of ethical reasoning conflicts with moral judgement when it pertains to medical practices. In the quest to gain deeper understanding of the human body, many practitioners have investigated human subjects in a way which disregarded individual rights up until the late 20th century in attempt to better understand human anatomy and advance medical research. Respecting human rights from experimental tests were of little interest to society for much of the 20th century. Many doctors and scientists around the world performed unethical experiments on subjects without their knowledge or consent. The laws of experimentation on human subjects has changed drastically between the 20th and the 21st century. An individual must now be given clear explanation of the risks and provide consent, prior practitioners can proceed with experimental practices. There are now safety laws and policies in place. History has proven the use of human subjects for medical experiments, despite the benefits, is wrong because it has unfairly targeted people of color, it goes against morals ethics and individual values, and it has made the public uneasy of medical professionals.
