This source is in the Arabic language but since both of us are fluent in the Arabic language, we have managed to translate the article. The article talks generally about the dance, and how it’s the national dance in the entire country, yet it has different names to it. In addition, the source states how all Arab countries have similar national dance and how some music instruments are also used for the different national dances. This article also states how the dance represents all kinds of occasions, not just joyful events. Furthermore, the source above also includes the different ways one can dance the “Chobi” and which gender can participate in which.

This source is also published in the Arabic language, but we have translated it as well. This article, similar to the one above, also gives the reader more insight about the representation of the “chobi” dance and what it means to the Iraqi people. This source also includes the costumes worn while dancing. Where males wear what is known to the culture as “Dishdasha and holding a rosary or a handkerchief”. Even though females are less likely to participate in the dance, their costumes include wearing a “galabia”, which is similar to the men’s clothing but is more feminine.

The source above is one of the most famous songs by a well-known Iraq Singer, Kadim Al-Saher, whom also happens to be “Iraq’s Ambassador to the world”. One can dance the “Chobi” to quite a variety of songs, but this one is considered a classical one to play. The songs that are used for this dance usually tend to be more around or more than 5 minutes and the first minute or so, are just musical instruments playing for the dancers to get ready and in place. As there certain positions to this dance, where a semi-circle is formed and with the beat, 2 people go on to dance individually in the middle of the circle, and the rest continue on.
