The job that I am seeking after I completed my degree is Director of a childcare facility

PART A: Job Description

Childcare Center Directors are the childcare center’s administrators, and responsible for all their center’s program’s aspects. The childcare director’s job description revolves around quality standards to offer a safer developmental learning environment for the children. Suitable staff recruitment, training, retention, and supervision are a main duty for anyone holding this role. They provide a suitable environment for staff’s and children’s learning and mentorship, and are in charge of both the childcare’s programmatic and financial side, including balancing the financial books, marketing, billing, and ordering supplies. They are responsible for emergency management and safety and protection for all the children and staff in their facilities.

PART B: Duties and Responsibilities

Childcare center directors assist childcare staff with teaching and caring for children. They lead, establish the center’s goals, direct and assist childcare staffs, oversee daily childcare activities and routines, design program plans, prepare budgets, develop curricula in coordination with staff, communicate with parents, and uphold the center’s reputation etc. They are also responsible for recruiting and retaining highly responsible and reputable staff to directly care for the children.

PART C: Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Degree Level

Associate or bachelor's degree for public schools; high school diploma or its private preschools equivalent

Degree Fields

Early childhood development education, or a relevant field

Certification

Most states require license for this position, and it also requires National Administration Credential (NAC) or Child Development Associate (CDA) certifications

Compliance

Comply with local, state, and federal laws governing child care is mandatory

Experience

Preschool and early childhood care teacher experience often preferred

Skills

Communication, leadership and interpersonal skills required.
