General guidelines for setting up the project are as follows:

The topic and target population should be within the area of Pediatrics to include

components directed toward the parent/child. Educational material should be directed toward both at the age appropriateness of the child and literacy level of the parent.

The targeted population

Some examples would be infant, toddlers, preschoolers etc....or their parents, or children with a specific diagnosis and their parents. Assess the educational or learning needs in the various clinical settings, and try to address one of those needs with your project.

Rationale

Explain why this particular group needs this information. Some examples would

be a lack of teaching material on the topic, or current information that needs disseminating.

The focus should be on a topic that can make a contribution to knowledge for the particularpopulation and not where there is already a significant amount of information available.

Learning objectives for your population a minimum of two, specific learning objectives

should be listed. The learning domain (cognitive, affective, psychomotor), and the level of each

Briefly describe HOW you implemented your project, and WHY you chose the particular strategy for your population. Implementation options may

include pamphlet, fact sheets, video/audio tape, learning game, or self

Instructional guide. Reasons for strategy may include, age of the population, level of knowledge, readiness to learn and/or factors such as time or environment. Provide an assessment of the outcomes of learning from the implementation. Identify strengths & weaknesses of your project, and how you would present the information differently if appropriate.
