Chief Security Officers (CSOs) main responsibility is to oversee the physical security of an organizations as stated in our weeks lesson. The CSO is very important to the security of any organization because without their over watch and implementation of security tools and personnel the organization is more at risk. They reduce the risk of an incident from occurring, cannot prevent it completely. CSOs have the capabilities to identify threats and implement different security procedures to ready his team and organization from that potential threat. On top of have the complete overwatch on security they also work with other sectors within the organization to ensure that all collaboration is the best interest to all parties. As discussed in this week’s lesson and in past classes there is a business continuity plan or continuity plan that every company has in case of an emergency. This is place so that the security team and the rest of the employees through the building know what to do incase there was a fire, natural disaster, or even an attack.  This is crucial in the amount of work lost during the day if all employees react in a timely manner and will potentially save lives which helps the security team out.

Having an applicant that has global experience is that of an individual who has more experience in different environments and cultures.  This is crucial when having to deal with security from all angles. You would not want a new CSO in charge of your security team in Iraq because that person may not know how to react to a situation or ready his security team in the proper training. You would want an applicant that is very versatile and has been to several other areas of the world to build up their experience. In the lesson it also states the Regional security officers (RSO) that work with department of state is a type of CSO job where you will travel the world and conduct security teams (Marines) and (local tactical teams) to establish a good defense for your compound. I work with these individuals everyday and they never go to a high threat area without a decent background of being an assistant Regional security officer first. This is to not only protect them but the diplomats they protect.
