Course: MAN 4301

Recruiting may bring candidates through the door, but the selection process determines who ultimately receives the job. Organizations can use applications and resumes, employment tests, work samples, and interviews to evaluate candidates. The challenge is determining which methods provide the best information about whether someone will succeed.

For this discussion, imagine you are hiring for an important position in your organization.

1. Which would you trust most when evaluating a candidate: their resume/application, an employment test, a work sample, or an interview? Why? 2. What are some potential problems with relying too heavily on any one selection method? 3. If you could design the ideal selection process, what would it include?
