Chapter 12 Discussion Board

Determining how much employees should be paid is not as simple as choosing a number. Organizations must consider the value of different jobs, legal requirements, economic conditions, and the organization's ability to compete for employees.

For this discussion, consider what makes a compensation system fair.

1. What factors should an organization consider when determining how much a job should pay?

2. How can economic conditions influence wages and an organization's pay decisions?

3. What should a company do if there are two employees that perceive the work they are doing to be the same, but there is a large disparity in their pay?
