ICT capacity
It is very important to first understand what all is there inside this little three-lettered abbreviated wording at the top which is changing and shaping the world today. It stands for information and communication technology. In a nutshell, the practical use of information technology in the world is done through these ICT systems. From the handheld smartphone to the mainframe computer system powering the multinational firms, everything is ICT and the capability of advancement and prosperity of a nation, nowadays depends almost entirely upon their ICT capabilities (Janssen, Wimmer & Deljoo, 2015). Telephony, information transfer, data utilization, internet, interconnected systems, processes and devices, critical response systems for emergencies, business functions, maintenance, cyber security, national defense and even disaster management are all now connected to the information technology is one way or another and this is a direct disciple of the information and communication technology capabilities. So, as of now, it is evidently clear that the scope of ICT is as big as the sun for the world. The citizens living in such a country that lacks behind the other in terms of such ICT capabilities generally encounter lots of problems in their everyday life.
Quality of life
The first important impact due to such lacking is in the overall quality of life. The examples of such countries are known to almost everybody and one can clearly see that even the mobile network over there is not available everywhere in their country. YouTube still buffers like they are in the 90s. Major governmental organizations over there use pen and paper to do their work. Computer systems, internet, and network is unavailable over there. They remain cut off from the rest of the world in their living standards, updated knowledge and ease of doing everyday work. The same type of work requires much more labor and money due to outdated ICT systems.
Sustainability
Talking about the sustainability of life in those countries, it can be easily said that they lack that aspect livelihood too. Not only the ICT system covers the e-governance but also all the medical and geological advancements in the county. Availability of electricity in homes, medical facilities, transport, and logistics efficiency are all linked to the information systems in one way or another and thus not having them at disposal can create many problems.
Safety
Safety is an altogether very broader concept when it comes to information and communication technology in a country. The IT system employs a more sophisticated system for security of everything that it offers, from services, devices to data generated. Everything is secured under multiple layers of security which is frequently updated. The lacking countries still use the traditional lock on the box method for security which has numerous flaws and inconsistencies (Vaishnavi & Kuechler, 2015). National defense system will also have a lot of problems due to such lagging behinds. Attack prediction, defense system automation, reporting, weather forecasting, and disaster recovery are some of the key areas that get impacted due to outdated systems of government in terms of the ICT capabilities and this justifies its utmost importance.
