Dear Dean Smith,

I am writing to file a formal complaint against one of your instructors, Dr. Langley. I received an “F” from him in English 205. He said my final paper was not acceptable because it included some pages from a paper I turned in to my history professor last semester. It is my work. I did not plagiarize. Where is it written that I cannot quote myself? Most of my friends do this and some of them buy their papers and pass their courses this way. I do not think I have done anything wrong. I have not been able to find a policy on your web site, and Dr. Langley never warned us about this. If the policy cannot be found, it is unfair to require students to follow it. I am asking that you contact Dr. Langley and ask him to reconsider my grade.
