Assignment (MAJ)
Clinical Decision Support Systems Scenario C Analysis
In this scenario, the clinic is busy in that it receives more than forty patients in a day. In this case, for the clinic to be capable of attending many patients within a day. I plan to admit as many patients as possible in a day, and to do this, I have to purchase and install more Electronic Health Records that will make work easier in registering all the patients visiting the clinic in a day (AI Will Change Health Care Jobs for the Better, 2020). I also require more of the up-to-date Electronic Health Records to submit the quality measures to “Community Measures.”
Moreover, the stakeholders will have to assess the up-to-date documentation practices and improve and regulate procedures to obtain almost all patients’ data in the digital form (DSS, 2020). It will be even more critical to embrace collaborative efforts from industry and academic sectors to ensure higher patient care effectiveness while reducing costs. Patients' information entered in the electronic health record system should be presented in a operator-friendly format so that doctors, nurses, laboratory professionals, and end-users can easily access the information and comprehend the output to "Community Measures" to make work easier (Castaneda, 2015).
The benefits of using a CDSS within the Scenario
In this scenario, using CDSS is beneficial. It will help provide the entire healthcare team within the clinic and the state “Community Measures” with consistent and reliable patient information. The up-to-date electronic health records will make it easier to access more patient information within a short period of time with a lot of reliability and relevance (Clinical Decision Support, 2020). Besides, it will improve the efficacy and patient throughput within the clinic in a day than before. Many patients will be capable of scheduling their screening at the comfort of their homes, thus, time-saving and doing away with unnecessary costs for the patients and the clinic. CDSS will make it easier for all patients' information to be accessed all at once in one place. It will also be beneficial in reducing any risks of medical errors and misdiagnoses (Clinical Decision Support, 2020).
Challenges of Using CDSSs within the Scenario
The common challenges of using the CDSSs within the clinical setting include lack of shared understanding of the CDSS's general goal among all the healthcare professionals within the clinic, thus poor performance and inappropriate handing off tasks (2020). In addition, the clinic's failure to align the information system with its policies can bring about unfavorable performance and a waste of resources.
