Child care centers and family day care homes in California are required to be licensed by the Community Care Licensing Division of the State Department of Social Services.

All programs must meet the regulations specified in Title 22 of the California Administrative Code, which is based on the Health and Safety Code. In addition, state subsidized child care centers must meet Education Code requirements, commonly known as Title 5, which sets stricter adult/child ratios and staff qualifications than Title 22.

Assignment:

Part A) Search the internet and locate general staffing qualification requirements in education, experience, and permits for a Title 22 CA Early Child Care worker. (hint - look on the CCL website). List the requirements for:

· Administrator

· Director

· Teacher.

· Aid (Assistant)

Part B) Locate a copy of the CA Child Development Permit Matrix (CA's career ladder). (hint - look on the Child Development Training Consortium website). What permit will you be eligible for after this semester? How do you know? Be sure to look at Option 1 & Option 2.
