write an essay of 400-700 words, MLA format, on a subject of your own choosing, to be developed by cause and effect. You may use sources, but they are not required. If you do use any sources, be sure to include a Works Cited page and in-text citations (all in proper MLA format), with at least one in-text citation for each source used. Be sure to have a clear thesis statement for your essay.

The thesis for this essay may proceed from cause to effect or from effect to cause (you may even write about both, as part of a causal chain, though this is not recommended because it can make the essay become unwieldy and cause difficulty in formulating a thesis statement) -- but in any case, it must show causation in some way.

As always, use only 3rd-person point of view -- no 1st or 2nd person (including imperatives). No contractions, no exclamation points.

Minimum requirements for this assignment: 400 words, four paragraphs, MLA format, double-spacing. Essays that do not meet the minimum requirements will receive a grade of no more than 50 points.
