Risks in the Cassandra Case Study

Cassandra Jones' case study presents three main risks namely increased crime rate, possessing illegal drug substances, and abuse of drug substances. The case study currently in the investigation is about stealing. Stealing is a criminal act that portrays the decay of moral values and lack of self-worth (Throckmorton et al. 2018). Cassandra will have to serve a jail term in the county jail of Los Angeles despite having a 4-year old son to provide for. She has also been arrested in the past for having been found in possession of heroin, an illegal drug substance in the United States. The United States Food and Drug Administration classifies heroin as a highly addictive drug that should not be used by humans for any purpose (Throckmorton et al. 2018). Its effects are also harmful to human health and it impairs the normal functionality of the brain. The last risk is the abuse of heroin. Cassandra has in the past admitted to having used heroin and this poses serious health complications particularly to such a young girl like her. She also poses threat to her friends as she can influence them to use the drug as well.

Needs in Cassandra Case Study

Cassandra Jones has several needs to be addressed for her to resume her normal life. First of all, she has to go through a character-challenging rehabilitation process to change her behavior (Throckmorton et al. 2018). She has been in the previous account arrested for stealing. Currently, she is in jail for stealing a purse. This shows that she has a habit of stealing what she feels she lacks in her life. Her level of education is also quite low and the kind of jobs she does do not pay her well. There is a need to address the quality of education girls like Cassandra get to enhance their chances of getting well-paying jobs that can help them meet their daily needs (Throckmorton et al. 2018).

While in jail, Cassandra needs to be subjected to a rehabilitation process that will change her perception of stealing. She needs to be taught the consequences of stealing to enable her to see stealing as a crime and not as a means of living (Throckmorton et al. 2018). Another need addressed in this case study is the need to subject Cassandra and her friends to a drug rehabilitation program. Cassandra and her friends must be subjected to a drug rehabilitation program that will enable them completely withdraw from drug abuse and lead a decent life where they can care for those who depend on them (Throckmorton et al. 2018).
