Why did you chose to research this topic?
Active shooting has become common these days and bring a greater loss for the people, not just physical loss but also an emotional loss. It is quite important to know the reasons behind active shooting events and what recovery measures can be taken in order to avoid this. By doing research on this topic “Recovery post active shooting events” its root causes and recovery techniques can be found out which will be quite important for the organization.
Why is it important for my organization (The Army Corps of Engineers) to have a recovery post active shooter event?
It will prepare in advance for events that may take place in future. To work on the different elements of the active shooter events and find out the recovery ways like mental health therapy, counselling, relocation and evacuation during such events, (Douglas A. Berglund , 2017). This will help in making the recovery strong and strategic plan. Precautions can be taken. Important information can be extracted which will be used by the Army Corps of Engineers organization to protect others and themselves. This will help in getting prepared for three things: Run, Fight and Hide.
What are the protocol and procedures after this occurs?
Proper law enforcement instructions must be followed.
Evacuate the people according to the directions given and strictly follow them by the law enforcers. Take care of the people around themselves who are wounded and scared due to the occurring of active shooting. Officers may use the different techniques to end that incidence such as rifles, shotguns, teargas, etc.
What are the behavior standpoints?
There may be different reasons available that causes such events. The active shooters may be going on from some behavioral disorders that may be related to mental health, sociocultural factors and psychological factors. These factors may cause such people to go for active shooting to accomplish their desires or intentions in order to get money in return for their revenges to be achieved.
