Case Study: Pandemic Alignment
Assignment Guidelines
The COVID-19 pandemic brought unprecedented changes and impacted many industries and organizations. Budget constraints and staffing cuts forced businesses to make tough decisions, but there can also be an opportunity for reorganizing and realigning the way they do things. In some cases, this may mean doing more with less. In others it may mean drastic and disruptive changes. Enterprise architecture is a dynamic process; we must be ready to constantly adapt our strategies to succeed. This necessitates the following:
1. Determine an actionable business strategy.
2. Determine the business models and capabilities to support that strategy.
3. Determine the technology solutions and architecture needs to realize this strategy.
In this assignment, we’ll perform an analysis to do all three of these tasks.
Select a company that was particularly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Provide some background on what they do and how their situation has changed. Determine what enterprise architecture they had going into the pandemic. Then perform either a (1) quantitative, (2) functional, or (3) portfolio analysis, to help identify issues with their strategy and suggest actions going forward. Refer to Chapter 9 of Enterprise Architecture at Work for details on each method. You are encouraged to create any necessary visual aids to help "sell" your recommendations.
Your final analysis report should be a minimum of two to three pages (750 words).
