Part I: Critical Issues in Transportation 2019

The Transportation Research Board puts out a series of critical issues in transportation each year. These critical issues aim

to look 10-20 years into the future. Read the document which outlines the following 12 critical issues:

1. Transformational Technologies and Services

2. Serving a Growing and Shifting Population

3. Energy and Sustainability

4. Resilience and Security

5. Safety and Public Health

6. Equity

7. Governance

8. System Performance and Asset Management

9. Funding and Finance

10. Goods Movement

11. Institutional and Workforce Capacity

12. Research and Innovation

Choose one critical issue to explore further. You paper should summarize the issue using at least 3 additional sources

other than the Critical Issues in Transportation document. What is currently being doing to address this issue? How do

you think this issue will be addressed over the next 20 years? In addition, please discuss if you think there are any critical

issues that you believe should be included in the list.

Please note that this an individual assignment. This research paper should be approximately 3 pages double-spaced and

include references and proper citation.

Throughout this course we have discussed various aspects of transportation. The purpose of this portion of the course is

to reflect on the course and the field of transportation. Please answer the following reflection questions. Please limit

your response to 1-2 pages double-spaced. Please note that the questions are divided by major.
