The Case of Lake Chad

The article discusses the crisis in Lake Chad, which is caused by climate change and conflict. Since the 1960s, the lake has decreased by 90%, which has escalated regional strife. The lake is a vital water source for the people in the region, and the shrinkage has led to the scarcity of water and food. The article blames the Nigerian government for not doing enough to address the crisis and calls for more international assistance (Ehiane & Moyo, 2021). The Lake Chad Basin is a region that has been plagued by instability and conflict for many years. The region faces several challenges, including climate change, population growth, and scarce resources. These factors have all contributed to the crisis in Lake Chad.

The lake has shrunk by 90% since the 1960s, which has had several impacts on the region. First, it has led to water scarcity, as the lake is a vital water source for the people in the region. This has, in turn, led to food scarcity, as the people cannot grow crops. Second, the lake's shrinkage has led to increased regional conflict. This is because the people are fighting over scarce resources, and the government is not doing enough to address the situation (Mohanty et al., 2021). The article calls for more international assistance to the region. It also blames the Nigerian government for not doing enough to address the crisis. The government has been unable to manage the resources in the region effectively, leading to the current crisis.

In the case of Lake Chad, environmentally unsound procedures were employed while disregarding concepts.
