Discussion 4B - Team Assessment

Our team seems to be very well balanced.  We all seem very open to new ideas, and we all seem to get along very well.

I think it would be helpful if others in the group paid attention to the instructions of each assignment better.  Using the notification option in canvas or setting alerts with due dates in your phone calendar would help with this.

To me, the strength that we have as a group is that we all seem to be able to get along, and agree on topics.  The conversation has been free flowing, and everyone is open to meeting and discussing things.  We have not had any issues regarding disagreements or conflict.

One thing we need to work on as a group is to make sure the instructions for each discussion and or assignment is read completely.  That way, we know what we need to do, what to do, and how to do it.

In this age of online school, it is so vitally important to get the meetings down online, even if it is at a crazy hour of the day.  With the pandemic changing the way things are done, meeting online is so beneficial to progressing forward with people.  It is easy to hide behind a keyboard, but that in itself makes it a challenge sometimes to harmonize with everyone, no matter what your differences are.

I will always agree to abide by the rules of discussion, and civility.  No sense in getting angry.

Hey Brian,

I agree that something we need to work on is knowing the instructions for each discussion each week. Since we only meet once a week also it is important that we know everything beforehand so that our meeting is efficient as possible.

Hello Brian,

I agree that our team seems to get along well and discuss topics without any conflict. I like that you mentioned we should read the instructions more carefully, when doing group assignments, you have to be more considerate of time and you have to make sure you are doing your portion of the group work correctly because your grade will not be the only one affected, all of the group members will be affected. Online school has been a big adjustment for everyone because of the pandemic but I believe we will make it through and be successful!

Some strengths of our team include being able to coordinate a time and day we are able to meet and discuss for the week. Everyone is respectful of each others time because we all are very busy with our own lives and it is nice to have a good reliable time where everyone is able to meet and discuss. If there are any changes to the meeting day and time we make sure to let the others know before hand and we all work together to find another time that will work for everyone. Another strength we have as a team is that once we are in discussion we all listen to everyone in the group and make sure everyone has time to their thoughts and opinions. I think we have made a safe and comfortable environment where everyone feels comfortable sharing their thought and different opinions. We all respect one another even though we can share different viewpoints from time to time. Another strength we have as a team is that everyone does their part in the team. We have designated when each person will post to the discussion for that we and we make sure to add on our own thoughts before the person for that week post the response. Some specific actions we can better take as a team in my opinion is meeting a little bit more than once a week. This way we are able to clearly get everything done and we have more time to listen and get to know each other better. This will allow for better relationship building and time.

One area of strength for my team is that we always listen to one another and let each person share their thoughts and opinions. One way we can continue to develop this is by continuing to listen and engage better by asking more question and providing feedback.

One area for personal growth for our team is maybe a little bit better time organization and meetings. One way we could achieve this is by having everyone communicate clearly with the whole group about time preferences and etc.

Dillion we should definitely establish time preferences to ensure everyone can be present for our meetings. I feel our weekly meeting are sufficient but do not mind adding another if further clarification is need. I agree I feel, we are doing and great job in communication and respecting each other's opinions.

Dillon,

I agree with you regarding what you say about our team.  In this day and age, everyone is busy, and sometimes the little things get lost in the process.  Overall, we do seem to be very good at coordinating a time and day for our meetings.  Sometimes, things come up, and times have to change, but we do seem to get things accomplished.  There is at least for me respect for everyone in the group.  We all are different, and have different backgrounds, but we all seem to get along well.  I agree with you when you say we should meet more than once a week.  Sometimes that is easier said than done, but we can work on making that happen.  Getting to know each other is a very good thing, and I think that over time, it can happen.  These classes are so fast paced that it can be difficult for that to happen.  We do seem to listen very well to each other, and we are all able to share our thoughts and opinions.

Strengths and weaknesses play a vital role in figuring out who we're as individuals and as leaders. They inform how we decide what profession paths to comply with, what roles we must play, and the ways we carry out in those roles.  I feel that identifying strengths and weaknesses is the secret to unlocking the ability of individuals whether you are working as an individual or in a group. I have read that these qualities will enables leaders to make smarter choices about assignments, deliver extra powerful performance critiques, and ensure that as an individual one can develop and prevail.

Working as a group knowing the strengths and weaknesses of that group will help with the understanding to produce better productivity and engagement on assignments. Well, after working with my group for weeks now it has went really well.  I have observed over the week's  every individual in our group  does their share of the work.  We allow everyone to submit to the discussion and then we make certain to add on our personal thoughts before the final discussion for the week is posted with our final response. Some improvement actions we can take as a team in my view is meeting more than once a week. This manner we're capable of genuinely get the discussion completed as well as have extra time to listen and build relationships with one another.  Its nothing like making friends and networking with one another.

One personal strength for my team is excellent communication skills.  In order to continue with this strength I think each week as we meet as a group we continue practicing active listening to one another and providing feedback.  We can also continue developing this strength by continuing to respect each other.

One area of personal growth for my team would be time-management.  I think that we need to plan ahead on our meeting times for the next meeting before we end the call on a prior assignment.  I also feel we can improve time management by being more organize when we meet as a team.  Overall, we have a solid group.

Latona, planning ahead is always helpful. Establishing a meeting time that works for everyone would be beneficial to eliminate scheduling conflicts and allow us enough time to prepare.

Latona,

When talking about strengths and weaknesses, we can probably go on and on for hours.  We all have both, and sometimes, someones strength might be someones weakness. In discovering who we are as individuals, we have to communicate, and be respectful to each other, and listen.  Im still trying to find out who I am in this world, and sometimes I think I have a new strength.  This usually comes to me on a whim, and I try my best to learn about it, and use it.  I have always enjoyed working in a group, and I feel that I have some very good qualities as a leader and as a follower.  I think that allowing everyone to put down their thoughts on each discussion is a good thing, and it is something that we can build on as a group.

We for sure have good communication skills.  If someone emails the group, everyone usually responds quickly, and it seems to work well.  I agree with what you're saying on time management.  We need to lock down the next meeting before the current meeting is over.

Identify one area of personal strength for your team; provide one or two suggestions to continue developing this strength.

My team and I have been able to communicate effectively with the use if the discussion boards and weekly team meetings. We have been meeting to further discuss our options and provide an answer as to how we would proceed on the given topic. We have been respectful and encouraging throughout the past few weeks, the communication is strong.

Identify one area of personal growth for your team to consider; provide one or two suggestions on how to achieve this area of personal growth.

My team could improve on punctuality. The only issue I can identify is that we are not all posting the original discussion post by the deadline on Wednesday. This makes it tough to understand which stance the team member is leaning toward and prevents us from having all information necessary for a smooth meeting on teams regarding which choice we select. We could work on having our opinion on the current issue posted on time, allowing the team to properly prepare for the meeting. This would allow us to fully consider or reconsider a different option.

Our team strengths lie in communication, respect, open mindedness, and listening. We will however work to improve on the following:

· reviewing assignment requirements before meeting

· providing constructive feedback during team meetings

· addressing meeting preferences

· completing work on time to allow the team to consider an alternate standpoint

· add additional meetings as necessary

Hello Jesica, I like the way you mentioned our strengths as a team first. We all respect one another, communicate well, are open-minded, and we all encourage and listen to one another ideas. Those are all positives. I agree that we should be prepared before our meetings so that time is being wasted because of the fact that we only meet once a week. Completing work on time, or even early would definitely benefit the team because everyone has a chance to process what was said, and even share their point of view that the other team members had not considered.
