Mini Cases in Psychoactive Drugs and Their Effects on the Brain

In this module, you will complete a  mini-case. This type of case study is based actual medical cases from the literature. You will work to evaluate a patient, and synthesize brain-behavior links through directed questions. You can use your textbook and the lectures as a starting point, but you will need to do additional research. For mini-case studies, you will turn in  one slide with all of your answers. No other format is accepted.

Objectives

1. Explain and identify the major neurotransmitters, receptors, transporters, and brain structures involved in the mechanism of action of drugs of abuse.

2. Identify the subjective effects of psychoactive drugs of abuse.

3. Apply biologically-related research findings to a real life scenario.
