The former Craighead County Clerk Jacob Kade Holliday is accused of embezzling more than $1.4 million of government money for personal use. In his latest indictment, Holliday is charged with 11 counts of wire fraud that were transferred to his personal account or to the Holliday Development and Management account during the period from Jan 29th, 2020 to June 24th, 2020.

In October 2020, Holliday filed for bankruptcy agreeing to pay the county back for embezzled funds. Circuit Court Judge approved an agreed-upon consent judgment between Holliday and the county requiring Holliday to pay $1,415,304 to the county, plus $35,082.99 in interest and $21,025.74 in attorney’s fees and costs.

Holliday was elected to the office in 2012 and responsible for keeping an accurate account of all financial transactions with the county, which included payroll tax obligations and employee retirement contributions.
