DESIGN CASE STUDY

You are required to complete a design case study of the dyson “turbo head” as given to you in class.

You most examine the assembly & take it apart to establish how it works and what components are

used to drive the brush.

Case study requirements:

1. Disassembly & reassembly the parts given. (15%)

2. Sketch all parts and create the sketch in a way that it details all the parts contained with in the

assembly and how they function to achieve the driving of the brush subassembly. You must

clearly show how energy is transmitted through all the sub-assemblies identified. (40%)

3. Complete a design specification of the assembly listing relevant specifications and some realistic

values or suitable methods to establish the values. (25%)

4. Complete a review of the assembly and give detail under the following headings, (max 1000

words 20%)

a. design for assembly,

b. customer usability,

c. Innovation or invention?
