In this paper, I chose the topic “interpersonal violence” in professional psychology. Interpersonal violence has varied definitions depending on the body defining it. However, interpersonal violence can be devoted to mean the intentional physical application to another or self, threatening of one or self or a group or a community by an individual which might result in injury, psychological harm or deprivation or maldevelopment or death of self or the third party involved in the event (Wood et al., 2017).
On this topic, one of the research questions I might ask is “what are the causes of interpersonal violence in a community?” the second research question on the topic will be “how does interpersonal violence affect the daily life of the victim?”
One potential research design I will use to explore the first research question is the longitudinal research design. In this research study, I will follow the victims of interpersonal violence in their various environments over a long time as I identify the circumstances or items that trigger their erratic antisocial behavior. I will also ask the people around them about how the behavior came about. The observations will be related to the literature and the answers that come from the family kin and other people in the community (Kagee et al., 2010).
The second research design I will use for the second research question is the survey research design. In this design, I will formulate structured questions that will help me find the impact of interpersonal violence on the victims social, economic and health. I will then approach the victim of interpersonal violence and find out how they are doing in those areas as I record. I will then analyze the data generated descriptively (Kagee et al., 2010).
