Ethnography Project (Essay III) Due 04/20

Ethnography Project is the final written assignment for the semester. The main purpose of this project is to correctly identify a problem on a social scale and offer a possible solution.

There are two parts of this research project required: written essay (1000-1500 words) and presentation with discussion. There will be two groups formed. Each group will be given a social problem to identify and offer a possible solution. Each problem will come from one of these categories: Corporations and Profit. Health and Human Rights. Environmental Issues. Poverty. Racism. Youth and class. Conflict. The problem will be assigned by the instructor.

Written part: Students must find an individual or a group that deal(s) with given issues. The student will conduct ethnographic interview and record ethnographic photo-essay that illustrates the problem. An essay about your observations will be the written part of this Ethnography project. The requirement is a two to two and a half page( 1000-1500 words) research paper submitted through SafeAssign. Students will work on written essays INDIVIDUALLY.

Presentation with discussion: Based on their findings, the student will make a 3-5 minutes Powerpoint presentation and present it in front of the class.

IMPORTANT notes: After conducting your interview, explain the roots of the issue on a social scale using the appropriate anthropological theories and perspectives. If you are unsure about theories, please, go back to your textbook and read the chapters again. I expect students to bring in discussion their own perspectives and convictions and common sense. As a reminder, read chapters and assigned pages to the point that you can redeploy its arguments and fashion your own position in discussions, exams and in this case assignment. Use the appropriate anthropological concepts and perspectives. Recognize theorists, artists, and students that influence your approach by crediting them with citations following APA format and express your own original ideas. Read Academic Integrity Statement in this syllabus for important explanations about plagiarism. Pay attention to grammar, spelling, punctuation and word order
