PEERS QUESTION AND POST:

What are some important factors to consider when choosing the right career paths in education?

Growing up, I remember I had always wanted to become a teacher. I was around 10 years old when I would pretend, I had a classroom with about 20 students in attendance. It was so exciting for me and there was nothing else I wanted to do more than teach. Then as I got older, I started looking at other options in education that caught my attention. I remember being called to see the guidance counselor and how much she helped me from deciding the right career path to helping me emotionally with what I was going through at the time. When I walked away from her, I actually felt better than the way I came. She listened to me and cared about what I had to say. As I got older and in high school, I then decided that I wanted to stay in education, but possibly consider being a guidance counselor just like the one I had. Guidance counselors definitely implement the six pillars of character because the counselor showed me what it means to be kind and caring towards someone, taking responsibility by not giving up, signing up for my classes early, and brainstorming about my life in the future so that I could get a head start to make my life better (Character Counts, n.d.).
